Union Square, Swindon

Muse’s innovative design proposals for Union Square will significantly enhance the town’s vitality, creating a real 18 hour urban culture and a destination of choice for workers, shoppers and families.  The design also improves permeability and retains good access to the town’s heritage.

Initial proposals include a substantially sized public open square surrounded by 250,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, a hotel, a new bus interchange, 550,000 sq ft of office space and 450 new homes (30% of which will be affordable).

Transportation has also been an important consideration in the design with 1,300 car parking spaces and the removal of Fleming Way and Whalebridge Roundabout which will be turned into a much more pedestrian friendly road system with access for public transportation.
